When m is aspirated, that is, when it is immediately followed by h, a new combination or letter is formed, somewhat like v in English, as, a mhuineal, his neck; tàmh, rest. Dialectally, though never at the beginning of words, mh is often pronounced like a nasal oo, as, ràmh, an oar; and sometimes mh is entirely mute in the middle and at the end of words as, còmhnard, level; dhomh, to me; but nasality generally attaches to the vowel preceding the elision.
