Dwelly’s tuberous bitter vetch appears to be a case of mistaken identity. DASG (and other sources) unanimously describe cairt-leamhna as a yellow flower with roots used for tanning and medical purposes. This fits potentilla erecta exactly whereas vetches are not used in this way.
