(AF) sm The wonder-tuft or –clump. In some parts of the North the name hedgehog was given to a mysterious animal, which when met with among the corn, had only the appearance of a grey stone, but could change its shape. When thus met, a quantity ol the corn was left standing around it and only the ears of grain cut. Such a clump had been seen by AF and above was given as the cause of its existence, which, as few knew, almost every one who saw it wondered why it was there.
