nochd
adv (a-nochd) Tonight, this night. An dig e a-nochd? will he come tonight? In the Bible an nochd (this night), is applied to what is now called in English last night, as in 1 Sam. xv. 16 “what the Lord said unto me this night.” This is like the custom in Hebrew — “and the evening and the morning were the first day,” the evening before being counted as belonging to the day and not the evening after, as is the present English usage.
